Elizabeth Lebrun, Psy.D., Registered Psychological Assistant

Dr. Lebrun's style is warm, non-judgmental, and collaborative; she believes the therapeutic relationship is the strongest predictor of successful therapy. She listens to your unique story with deep curiosity and is proactive and engaged in sharing feedback. Dr. Lebrun strives for her clients to feel cared for and heard while experiencing a safe and authentic connection.

Dr. Lebrun's theoretical approach is relational psychodynamic while practicing through a trauma-informed lens. She places a strong emphasis on attachment and firmly believes that one's early relationships are the foundation for how we move through the world as adults. Dr. Lebrun also recognizes the different parts of one's identity (including race, gender, sexuality, and ability) and how it has compounded with experiences of discrimination and trauma. She has extensive experience with several evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and incorporates these tools as needed.

She has trained at various clinics and hospitals in the bay area, Including San Francisco Women Against Rape, The Community Institute for Psychotherapy, and San Francisco Community Behavioral Health. She completed her predoctoral training at San Mateo Medical Center, where she served a diverse population, both in an outpatient and inpatient setting. Previous clinical work included working with individuals and couples with psychological struggles, such as depression, anxiety, identity and sexuality, trauma, addiction, and eating disorders.

A particular interest of Dr. Lebrun's is working with new parents around their challenges in self-identity as they transition to a caregiving role. Additionally, Dr. Lebrun has provided specialized intervention for families of infants and toddlers from birth to three years old who have developmental delays. Including those who are at risk for delays in the areas of cognitive, adaptive behavior, social-emotional, and communication development.

Dr. Lebrun holds a bachelor's, master's, and a doctorate in psychology. She earned her undergraduate degree from San Francisco State University and her master's and doctorate from the American School of Professional Psychology in Alameda.
