Amy Vito, M.A. Registered Psychological Associate


Amy Vito is a registered psychological associate and doctoral candidate in Counseling Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. She holds a master's degree in Organization Development and a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus in Psychology and Sociology. Amy completed predoctoral training hours at Village Analytic, a psychoanalytic private practice in New York City; Lomi Psychotherapy Clinic, a community mental health clinic in Sonoma County; and Family Guidance and Therapy Center, which specializes in assessment and therapy for families with children on the autism spectrum and those with ADHD. She has worked with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and complex early childhood trauma, as well as couples struggling with communication and intimacy.

Amy's therapeutic approach is psychodynamic, person-centered, humanistic, trauma-informed, attachment-based, and somatic. She studied depth psychology and values dreamwork, symbols, and story as ways of accessing the unconscious. A long-standing contemplative practice supports her ability to listen deeply and attune to subtle nuance, and she brings an acute skill for pattern recognition — helping clients bring unconscious patterns into awareness so they can move through life with greater agency.

Amy takes a holistic view of her clients, attending closely to the intersectionality of their identities and the broader context — both current and historical — that shapes who they are. She recognizes that people are multidimensional, and that their psychological experience is inseparable from the systems they are embedded in and the environment, lifestyle, relationships, and health that surround them.

In addition to her clinical work, Amy has taught at Stanford and Sonoma State University, and served as a leadership coach for the FDA. She is particularly drawn to the intersection of her clients' personal and professional lives, and has supported them in resolving deep-seated conflicts and achieving meaningful development goals.
